When it comes to lead generation, the landscape is vast—LinkedIn, Google, Bing, Reddit, Taboola, and more are all going for your attention. With so many options, it's easy to get overwhelmed and wonder where to start. As someone who spends millions of dollars a month on ads and has been in the lead gen space for years, I can tell you this: if you can't make it work on Facebook (Meta), you're going to struggle on other platforms.
Here's why Facebook should be your first stop in lead generation:
The Case for Facebook (Meta)
Facebook, or Meta, isn’t just another platform; it's the backbone of a solid lead generation strategy. You might hear about success stories on LinkedIn or Google, and sure, they might work for some. However, the key factor to remember is the cost per lead (CPL) and how it aligns with your conversion rates. For example, LinkedIn might seem like a goldmine for targeting business owners, but the reality is your CPL on LinkedIn could be three times higher than on Facebook. If your conversions don't scale proportionally, you're facing a much higher cost per acquisition (CPA), making your campaigns less efficient.
Maximize Your Budget on Facebook First
If you’re just starting out or if you’ve been running ads but haven’t been able to scale, my advice is simple: max out your budget on Facebook before you even think about other platforms. This strategy allows you to test creative, offers, and formats in a more cost-effective environment. Facebook offers a wider reach at a lower cost, giving you more opportunities to refine your campaigns.
Once you've nailed down what works on Facebook—whether it’s the creative, the audience, or the offer—you can then consider expanding to other platforms. But until then, focus 95% of your budget on Facebook and allocate the remaining 5% to other channels for omnipresence.
Why Omnipresence Can Wait
Yes, being everywhere at once—Facebook, LinkedIn, Google, Reddit—sounds appealing. It’s called omnipresence, and while it’s a powerful marketing strategy, it’s not where you should start. The goal is to make your money work as efficiently as possible, and the best place to do that is Facebook. Once you've maximized your potential there, and only then, should you branch out to other platforms to create that omnipresence.
