Back in my early days, I learned a hard lesson.

Someone once told me that handing out flyers locally really helped his business. So, I printed out about 200 flyers. Walking around handing them out, putting them on cars for a Nutrishop supplement store I worked at. Since the best Nutrishop in the country was doing it I figured it had to work. After 200 flyers and 20k steps of handing them out we saw no lift in sales. I went back to the guy and said that didn’t work.

His response lit a light bulb ā€œyou have to do way more than 200 per day to make it work. Shoot for 500 per dayā€ā€¦ I was only doing 200 a month! The moral to the story… the best in the business are doing 10-100x more output than you think you need. I thought 200 flyers a month would work while he was doing 15,000 flyers.

STEP 1ļøāƒ£: Do 10x More Than You Think

Most people underestimate the volume it takes to see results. Think about my Nutrishop story—I was handing out 200 flyers a month while the top performers were doing 15,000 flyers. That’s the difference. Flyers are a numbers game.

Here’s what you need to do:

  • Print at least 500 flyers to distribute daily.

  • Focus on high-traffic areas like malls, local events, and neighborhoods.

  • Keep track of your distribution zones to avoid overlap and maximize reach.

STEP 2ļøāƒ£: Consistency is King

This isn’t a one-and-done effort. Even 15,000 flyers won’t move the needle if you only do it for one month and stop. Lead generation through flyers is about staying in front of people, over and over again.

  • Partner with local businesses to leave stacks of flyers in their locations.

  • Attend community events regularly and hand out flyers at every opportunity.

  • Incorporate flyers into a weekly routine—500 flyers a day, five days a week.

    • A roofing company could do a ā€œWin 50% Off Your New Roofā€ giveaway.

  • Highlight Benefits, Not Features: Don’t just say what you sell. Show how it solves a problem.

  • Design Matters: Use bold colors, easy-to-read fonts, and high-quality images.
